The Data Space for a Sustainable Green Europe
The SAGE (Sustainable Green Europe Data Space) project will develop a federated, secure, and interoperable data space to support the European Green Deal, building directly upon the GDDS GREAT project community and results.
It integrates high-value datasets, establishes governance and trust frameworks, and demonstrates 10 pilot use cases to foster data-driven sustainability solutions across biodiversity, climate, circular economy, and pollution monitoring.
Sage Pilot Use Cases
SAGE will establish a fully operational Green Deal Data Space (GDDS) aimed at enhancing the accessibility, integration, and utilization of green and environmental data across the EU to support key pillars of the European Green Deal:
Zero Pollution, Climate Adaptation, Biodiversity, and the Circular Economy Action Plan.
SAGE targets these strategic pillars by implementing a rich portfolio of use cases in each of them:

Zero Pollution Action Plan
Sets the ambition of a toxic-free environment for 2050. The targets established for 2030 aim to accelerate the reduction of pollution and the impact to human health and natural ecosystems.
5 Use Cases:
- Climate Investment Plan
- Soil Circularity
- Built Environment CO2 Hub
- Environmental Hazards
- Net Zero Defect Manufacturing
- Air Quality and Health

Climate adaptation / mitigation
establishes legally binding actions, European Climate Law to achieve climate neutrality by 2050 and reinforces the adaptive capacity of the EU to minimize the impacts of climate change.
6 Use Cases:
- Forest
- Built Environment CO2 Hub
- Environmental Hazards
- Pollinator Monitoring
- Net Zero Defect Manufacturing
- Climate Investment Plan
