The SAGE (Sustainable Green Europe Data Space) project will develop a federated, secure, and interoperable data space to support the European Green Deal, building directly upon the GDDS GREAT project community and results.

It integrates high-value datasets, establishes governance and trust frameworks, and demonstrates 10 pilot use cases to foster data-driven sustainability solutions across biodiversity, climate, circular economy, and pollution monitoring.

SAGE Use Cases

SAGE establishes a fully operational Green Deal Data Space (GDDS) to enhance the accessibility, integration, and utilization of green and environmental data across the EU in support of key pillars of the European Green Deal:

Zero Pollution, Climate Adaptation, Biodiversity, and the Circular Economy Action Plan.

SAGE targets these strategic pillars by implementing a rich portfolio of use cases in each of them:

Zero Pollution Action Plan

The European Union aims that by 2050, pollution in the air, water and soil pollution will be reduced to levels no longer considered harmful to human or to the balance of natural ecosystems.

5 Use Cases:

Climate mitigation and adaptation

Through the European Climate Law, the EU commits to legally binding actions that put the continent on a clear path toward climate neutrality by 2050. At the same time, it boosts Europe’s ability to adapt to a changing climate.

6 Use Cases:

The Biodiversity Strategy

The EU has established roadmap that lays out concrete actions to protect nature, safeguard species and restore habitats to reverse the ongoing degradation of ecosystems by 2030.

3 Use Cases:

Circular Economy Action Plan

This initiative promotes the sustainable use of resources across key sectors, such as electronics, batteries and vehicles, plastics, textiles, and construction. Its aim is to design products that last longer, reduce waste throughout their lifecycle, and accelerate Europe’s transition toward a fully circular, resource-efficient economy.

3 Use Cases:

SAGE Consortium

SAGE builds on the strengths of a Consortium of over 40 partners across multiple Sectors, User Communities and Markets.
